Kyiv College of Railway Transport

Kyiv College of Railway Transport is a leading school for training of specialists for the railways of Ukraine having the 1st level of academic accreditation.

About 30 thousand specialists have been trained at the College over 82 years of its existence. The graduates form the College are working now in different sectors oil the economy of Ukraine and abroad. There are many famous scientists, public figures, directors and managers and leading experts of rail transport among the graduates of the College. A poet G. Kryvda, a writer V. Nekrasov, twice world champion in free-style wrestling V. Korytny, Heroes of the Soviet Union Kosian and Skliarov, doctors of engineering science I. Kalyta arid T. Turkevych, candidates of science V. Bondarenko and K. Churgomov etc.

Today, 1560 students are studying at the College or obtaining distance education according to the following specialties:

  • Traffic organization and rail transport management
  • Maintenance of rolling-stock and special purpose technique of the rail transport
  • Business
  • Accounting

Kyiv College of Rail Transport is a training centre comprising a four-storied academic and laboratory suit, training and production shop, a hostel for the accommodation of 530 persons, refectory and canteen, library having a book stock of 50 thousand books and two gymnasiums.

The College has 15 laboratories, 26 classrooms and 4 computer classrooms equipped with all required facilities, devices and educational television which make it possible to hold quality lectures, workshops and practices. In 2002, an advanced laboratory for traffic management equipped with six state-of-the-art computers was opened at the Department of Traffic Organization and Rail Transport Management. Altogether, 76 computers are available for the training purposes; the students of the College have also an access to the Internet.

The high level of educational process in the College is provided by 55 staff lecturers. The personnel of the College includes four candidates of science, two assistant professors, 15 specialists in teaching methods and senior lecturers; 21 lecturers have the top master's certificates. A need in specialists having deep theoretical and applied knowledge in the fundamental sciences and engineering is growing rapidly during the formation of market relations and labour market.

For this purpose, a special emphasis in the College is made on a creation of training and research complexes. The College has joined such training and research associations as:

  • Ukrainian National Academy of Rail Transport, and
  • Kyiv University of Transport Economy and Technologies.

The students of the College may enter the 3rd year courses of the above academic institutions of the 3rd and 4th levels of accreditation.

The developed system of training and educational work makes it possible to show high results at olympiads in different subjects studied at the College, competitions in amateur art activities arid sports competitions among the academic institutions of Kyiv. Twenty three students obtain registered educational grants from the President of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada, Kyiv mayor and Ukrzaliznytsia company.

The teaching staff and students of the College have been awarded with multiple diplomas and valuable presents by the Ministry of Transport of Ukraine, Ministry of education and Science, Ukrzaliznytsia and the State Administration of Kyiv and our district.

Future specialists of rail transport are educated and trained on the basis of cultural and historical values of the Ukrainian nation and folk traditions and spirituality and sense of values. Employment of wisdom of many ages and actual achievements in the educational work promotes the recognition of the Ukrainian national idea and favours the development of humanitarian culture and consolidation of Ukrainians in a single political nation endeavouring to maintain friendship, harmony and collaboration with all nations and countries world wide.
